Biotechnology

In biotechnology, biological processes are made usable for industry or for technical processes. Biotechnology applies living organisms, parts of them or their models in a wide variety of areas such as agriculture (green biotechnology), medicine (red biotechnology) and industry (white biotechnology). In red biotechnology, proteins, for example, are specifically modified by genetic processes in order to achieve a therapeutic effect. Therefore, knowledge of genetic and proteomic correlations is an important technology (see Omics).
