The cycle tour takes them from Legden to the beauties of the western and northern Münsterland and promises all cycle travellers enormous scenic and cultural diversity. Itinerary | Cycling Tour From the Dinkel to the Ems

Day 1

Legden - 3 castles ride | approx. 35 km

After the welcome and handover of bikes and maps, you start the Three Castles Tour via Asbeck to Darfeld and back to Legden. The cycle tour lives up to its name: you will see Varlar Castle and Egelborg House. In Legden, the parish church of St. Brigida awaits you with its famous stained glass choir window. The small village of Asbeck is also worth a visit with its collegiate church, the dormitory and the double-storey cloister, parts of which have been reconstructed. Not to be forgotten are the Hunnenporte gatehouse with its granaries and the picturesque water mill.

Legden - Ahaus - Ochtrup | approx. 51 km

The route takes you past one of the oldest oil mills on the banks of the Dinkel - the Düstermühle. Discover the magnificent old Baroque water castle in Ahaus on your bike tour, where you can take a rest under centuries-old trees or explore the lively town. The town centre borders directly on the castle.
Other interesting sights on your cycle tour are the Heimathaus and the clog maker's workshop in Wessum, the town park with the Art Nouveau villa "Im Winkel" and the pottery in Ochtrup.

Ochtrup - Wettringen - Emsdetten

On today's cycle tour you will reach 850-year-old Welbergen with its old village church (12th century) and the romantic "Haus Welbergen" dating from 1282. The historic walls are still one of the most beautiful secrets of the Münsterland. Take a short walk around the moat at Haus Welbergen and gain ever new insights into the magnificent grounds. Don't miss a walk through the beautiful park.
Go on a discovery tour in the Emsdetten Fens and visit the Heimat- und Wannenmachermuseum in the "Hof Deitmer" town park.

Emsdetten - Nordwalde - Altenberge - Laer | approx. 42 km

Quiet and rural, the cycle paths on today's stage lead through fields and wooded areas of the Münsterland. Along the way, the Gräftenhöfe Bispinghof with its moat and granary, the Pröbstinghof and Gut Althaus in Nordwalde await cyclists. The cycle path continues to the small town of Altenberge to Laer in the heart of the Münsterland.

Laer - Horstmar - Schöppingen - Legden

You cycle along idyllic cycle paths from Laer to the dreamy town of Horstmar. The small town is known for its castle courtyards, the historic town hall and the parish churches. On the way to Schöppingen, you pass the castle gate with Sendenhof in Horstmar. In Schöppingen you can visit the artists' village and the old town hall. Back in Legden, make a detour to the "Dorf Münsterland" holiday and leisure complex.

Legden - Gescher - Stadtlohn - Legden

Today's day tour takes you to the bell town of Gescher. The newly designed bell museum in the town centre is known far beyond the borders of the region and is well worth a visit. Also take a look inside the imposing church. When the sun shines, the colourful windows of the church offer a wonderful play of colours. The next stop is the pottery town of Stadtlohn. Beautiful villas and town houses characterise the town centre with its many water features. On the way back from Stadtlohn, drive through the "Bröke" forest area, which, with its approximately 420 hectares, is one of the most beautiful contiguous forest areas in the Westmünsterland.
