The castle tower was part of Davensberg Castle and was probably built around 1500/1530 during an extension of the complex. In the tower, on the main floor, there is a beautiful Gothic star vault as a fireplace room with the coat of arms of Büren-Koevorden. Underneath is a dungeon with a torture chamber and a stretching bed. Today, the castle tower is used as a museum of local history. With its idyllic and natural location in the north of Ascheberg, it is also a popular venue for private and public events. A visit to the castle tower can be beautifully combined with a hike through the Davert nature reserve.
Take part in the public guided tour of Davensberg Castle Tower - the tower with "torture chamber and witch's hive". Visit the cellar and learn its dark secrets. In addition, the museum of the local history society provides exciting insights into traditional agricultural culture. Things get romantic in the tower's wedding room. A tower of contrasts!
Groups are formed on site according to demand and fixed times are offered. Short guided tours are offered if the number of visitors is low.
