A picnic area with Ems flair awaits you in Warendorf . A special highlight: Here you can find fresh herbs for your picnic in the beds of the "Edible City". Picking is expressly permitted! The picnic area is located directly on the Ems cycle path, so it's the ideal place to take a break on your bike tour. Combine your picnic with a guided tour through the old town of Warendorf or through the NRW State Stud, the German Olympic Committee for Equestrianism in the north of the town.
The public guided tours through the historic old town and the NRW State Stud take place (until the end of October) every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 12 pm. Participation fee: 5 euros. Registration at 02581-545454 or tourismus@warendorf.de.
By the way: If you want to visit the NRW State Stud on your own, you can walk around the grounds as well as through the stables during opening hours(masks are compulsory in the stables).
Horses simply belong to the Münsterland region - this is particularly evident at the North Rhine-Westphalian State Stud in Warendorf, the horse capital. It is the centre in NRW when it comes to breeding and equestrian sport. 100 horses are housed here in the historic stables. The 80 employees take care of their daily well-being. Trainees also share the fascination for horses here. We talk about their daily routine in the current podcast episode and learn a lot of interesting facts about the Warendorf State Stud.
