The cycle path leaves Ahaus in a westerly direction and reaches the fields and meadows of the western Münsterland. The stage destination is the magnificent Haarmühle inn - right on the Dutch border. Here, at the latest, there is time for an extended rest. The cycle path continues to the Lünten fish ponds. In the past, intensive fish farming characterised the waters. Today it is a sensitive ecosystem that has many surprises in store for nature lovers. The "Schwattet Gatt" nature reserve is one of the most bilogically valuable wet heaths in NRW.
From the legendary Bentheim Castle, the cycle tour leads towards Rheine. The castle hill is soon behind the cyclists and the route becomes flat and rural again. The Bentlage Monastery in Rheine is definitely worth a visit. The beautiful park around the salt works offers relaxation. The second-largest town in Münsterland is particularly beautiful around the market square. The cycle tour leaves Rheine in the direction of Neuenkirchen. Past the Offlumer See lake, the romantic Haus Welbergen awaits as the third extraordinary highlight of the cycle tour. A short walk through the inner courtyard and the small forest around the castle is very nice. The last stage leads from Ochtrup back to Bad Bentheim.
The starting point of the cycle tour is the wonderful Gemen Castle on the outskirts of Borken. Only a few kilometres beyond Borken is Pröbsting Park. After a look at Haus Pröbsting, a ride on the pedal boat is a good idea. The small town of Rhede, just outside Bocholt, is well worth a visit. Rhede Castle, the small shopping street and the Pharmacy Museum are spread out around the mighty church. The church square is also the ideal place for a rest in one of the ice cream parlours or restaurants. Very rural and quiet, the cycle path leads in a curve back to Borken.
No less than three very worthwhile castles and palaces are located on this relatively short cycle tour from Havixbeck to Münster. The cycle tour takes you past Hülshoff Castle, Rüschhaus House and to the impressive castle in Münster. There are special and at the same time very different gardens at all 3 castles. You should plan some time for walks here.
The starting point of the cycle tour is the imposing Vischering Castle on the outskirts of Lüdiinghausen. Free parking is available directly at the castle. Leave the town by bike and enter the small district of Seppenrade (uphill). The rose garden at the entrance to the village presents countless roses in all imaginable colours. The cycle path leads through the partly wooded, partly open landscape to the Hullern reservoir. The lake is beautifully situated, calmly surrounded by dense forests. This cycle tour leads back through the scenic Steverauen meadows near Olfen.
Tip: The museum in Vischering Castle shows the history of the castle in an impressive and entertaining way.
From the Erbdrostenhof in Münster's city centre, the cycle tour leads to the magnificent Lamberti Church and on to the wide square in front ofMünster Castle. Here it is worth taking a look at the Botanical Garden of Münster University. A few kilometres further on, the surroundings are already rural. Haus Rüschhaus is the first stop on the cycle tour. As with Hülshoff Castle, only a few kilometres away, the garden is a special gem. Past the Mühlenhof open-air museum and the popular Aasee lake, the cycle tour takes you back to Münster.
Not only castles but also gardens and parks are in the foreground on this day bike tour. The small park in the courtyard of Haus Welbergen is particularly worth seeing. The cycle tour leads in the direction of Steinfurt, accompanied by fields and meadows. In Steinfurt, the historic town centre offers nice opportunities for a rest. An excellent photo motif is the magnificent Steinfurt Castle. Fields and meadows also characterise the last stage to Ochtrup.
The route starts at the picturesque Hovestadt Castle. Even before you start cycling, it is worth taking a tour of the gardens. You then cycle through the park landscape of the Münsterland until the houses of Liesborn rise out of the fields. The abbey with its museum is well worth a visit.
In Wadersloh, Crassenstein Castle is the next stop on the cycle tour. Unfortunately, the castle can only be admired from a distance. The same applies to Haus Assen, which you will also encounter on the cycle tour. The cycle tour now approaches the valley of the Lippe again and reaches the starting point. End the day on the banks of the Lippe.
From Nordkirchen Castle, the route follows very flat cycle paths southwards to Werne. The cycle path is framed by fields and meadows almost the entire time and only occasionally crosses a country road. At the market square in Werne, several restaurants and cafés tempt you to take a break. As soon as Werne is behind the cyclists, the surroundings become rural again. Small wooded areas mark the section of the route up to Westerwinkel Castle. A circular route begins in the courtyard of the castle and offers beautiful views of the castle. The restaurant at the golf course offers another opportunity to fortify yourself for the journey to Nordkirchen Castle.
The cycle tour starts at Rhede Castle, which is only a few metres away from the beautiful town centre. From here you follow the Bocholter Aa out of town a little way in the direction of Marienthal. From here it is only a few kilometres to Raesfeld Castle with its historic zoo. The restaurants and cafés at the castle are ideal for a short break. Away from the main traffic routes, the cycle tour continues to Pröbsting Manor House and Pröbsting Lake. Here, pedal boats invite you to take a boat trip across the lake. The last kilometres of the beautiful cycle tour lead through fields and small wooded areas back to Rhede.
The cycle tour leads from Anholt Castle on consistently flat cycle paths through the landscape characterised by fields and meadows past Anholter Schweiz to Isselburg. The landscape remains decidedly rural until Bocholt. In Bocholt, the beautiful town centre with its market square and the LWL Textile Museum are well worth a visit. The cycle path leads around the beautifully landscaped Aasee lake. You cycle along the Bocholter Aa to the Dutch border before the circular route ends at Anholt moated castle.
