From the legendary Bentheim Castle, the cycle tour leads towards Rheine. The castle hill is soon behind the cyclists and the route becomes flat and rural again. The Bentlage Monastery in Rheine is definitely worth a visit. The beautiful park around the salt works offers relaxation. The second-largest town in Münsterland is particularly beautiful around the market square. The cycle tour leaves Rheine in the direction of Neuenkirchen. Past the Offlumer See lake, the romantic Haus Welbergen awaits as the third extraordinary highlight of the cycle tour. A short walk through the inner courtyard and the small forest around the castle is very nice. The last stage leads from Ochtrup back to Bad Bentheim.
The starting point of the cycle tour is the wonderful Gemen Castle on the outskirts of Borken. Only a few kilometres beyond Borken is Pröbsting Park. After a look at Haus Pröbsting, a ride on the pedal boat is a good idea. The small town of Rhede, just outside Bocholt, is well worth a visit. Rhede Castle, the small shopping street and the Pharmacy Museum are spread out around the mighty church. The church square is also the ideal place for a rest in one of the ice cream parlours or restaurants. Very rural and quiet, the cycle path leads in a curve back to Borken.
No less than three very worthwhile castles and palaces are located on this relatively short cycle tour from Havixbeck to Münster. In Wadersloh, Crassenstein Castle is the next stop on the cycle tour. Unfortunately, the castle can only be admired from a distance. End the day on the banks of the Lippe.
From Nordkirchen Castle, the route follows very flat cycle paths southwards to Werne. The cycle path is framed by fields and meadows almost the entire time and only occasionally crosses a country road. At the market square in Werne, several restaurants and cafés tempt you to take a break. As soon as Werne is behind the cyclists, the surroundings become rural again. Small wooded areas mark the section of the route up to Westerwinkel Castle. A circular route begins in the courtyard of the castle and offers beautiful views of the castle. The restaurant at the golf course offers another opportunity to fortify yourself for the journey to Nordkirchen Castle.
