Tales and Legends from the Region of Castles and Fortresses
Ancient myths and legends from the Münsterland region tell of mysterious figures, inexplicable events, and historic sites. The cultural project“Castle Ghost and Moat Spirit”collects well-known and nearly forgotten stories from the region’s castles and fortresses and presents the regional cultural heritage in new formats.
Plans include an illustrated book for young and old, a modern radio play , and a theater festival at selected castles and fortresses. The book is scheduled to be published in the spring of 2027; the festival is scheduled for late summer 2027.
In the digital library , you’ll also find regional stories and their background information. Individual legends offer additional insights into historical sites in the Münsterland region and connect regional history with modern cultural education. Step by step, a growing collection of ghost stories, legends, and tales is taking shape for families, culture enthusiasts, and visitors.
