Erwin Trio

„Three generations, three cultures, three genres“ – that is how the Erwin Trio from Dortmund describes its own sound. Accordion, double bass and drums meet and take the audience on a journey between classical motifs, French chanson and free jazz improvisation. Every concert is different – that is part of the concept.

The trio was founded in 2020 around the Polish-German accordionist Miroslaw Tybora. Well-known themes by Bach, Chopin or Satie become the starting point for surprising new compositions – sometimes playful and light, sometimes fiery, sometimes with echoes of free jazz. Drummer Michael Peters-Thöne brings more than four decades of international concert experience, double bassist Eric Richards provides the melodic foundation.

For „Trompetenbaum und Geigenfeige“, the Erwin Trio will perform on 28 June in the monastery garden of Mariengarden in Burlo – a place where music meets centuries-old walls and thus creates exactly the tension the trio loves: between tradition and new beginnings.
