ERIC VLOEIMANS' PICO BELLO EXTENDED

With Pico Bello Extended, Dutch trumpeter Eric Vloeimans, one of the defining personalities of European jazz, presents a project that is as personal as it is sonically multi-layered. Between jazz, chamber music and film-inspired sound aesthetics, a music of great emotional openness emerges - carried by clear melodies and his warm trumpet tone: an emotionally charged listening experience, poetic, powerful and immediately touching.

For Vloeimans, multiple winner of the prestigious Boy Edgar Prize, the genre of "jazz" is not a narrow corset, but an open starting point for border crossings between rock, global music and classical music.

At the center of his ensemble is Vloeimans' unmistakable sound, often described as velvety or whispering. At his side, the versatile guitarist Mark Tuinstra forms the harmonic framework with fine timbres and rhythmic conciseness. Udo Demandt lends the music a lively, pulsating depth with subtle percussion and global influences. With Jörg Brinkmann on cello and Jasper le Clercq on violin, the ensemble gains an additional dimension: the strings open up wide, cinematic soundscapes and create a chamber music-like intimacy that repeatedly transforms into energetic, improvisational flights of fancy.
