Dancer on the keys

Born in the south of France, influenced by the sound of Spanish folk music and at home on the piano: Mélodie Gimard is both a musician and a dancer and moves elegantly in both worlds. Her playing combines the depth of flamenco with the clarity of classical structures, improvisations and influences from jazz, folklore and world music.

As a former dancer, Gimard translates movement into sound, with a fine sense of rhythm and emotional dramaturgy. Her compositions are imbued with cultural curiosity, technical precision and a special lyrical power. At the Münsterland Festival, one of Spain's most exciting pianists showed at Raesfeld Castle how musical roots can be transformed into new horizons.

Concert duration: 1 hour
The concert could also be booked in combination with the Landpartie at Raesfeld Castle.

The history of Raesfeld moated castle dates back to the 12th century. At the end of the 16th century, it came into the possession of the von Velen family, who extended it in the Renaissance style. Of the former four castle wings, the west wing with its striking stepped tower and the adjoining old building to the north with its rebuilt round tower still stand today. Today, the castle serves as a venue for events and as the headquarters of the Chamber of Crafts' further training facility.
