Senegal meets Spain

Momi Maiga's music sounds like a bridge between the continents. With the kora - a bridge harp with 22 strings - the musician brings together the sound traditions of West Africa with the lightness of Spain. The instrument is always present at his performances, sometimes providing discreet support, sometimes plucking it into the center of attention. This special harp carries the melodies and rhythms through the evening.

With his band members on violin, cello and drums, Maiga creates music that transcends distances and opens up cultural spaces. Jazz, flamenco and classical string arrangements merge with the narrative traditions of Senegal. Maiga lives in Spain and performed the brilliant finale of the Münsterland Festival at Burg Vischering - a musical highlight and conclusion that brought people together.

Made possible by the Sparkasse Westmünsterland and the Institut Ramon Llull, which promotes the Catalan language and culture.

THE VENUE: KULTURGUT HAUS NOTTBECK

You can see as far as the "Teuto", in the other direction almost as far as the Sauerland. On the edge of the East Westphalian region, on the outskirts of the Stromberg district of Oelde, lies the former manor of Haus Nottbeck with its 600-year history. Today, the listed estate is a vibrant cultural asset. It is home to the Museum of Westphalian Literature and a modern cultural forum in a historic setting with a stately flair and rural charm.
