It is one of the most traditional and renowned jazz orchestras in the Ruhr region: the BigBand Dorsten gave its first public concert in the spring of 1982 and has since developed from an adult education centre jazz orchestra into an ensemble whose reputation extends far beyond the city limits of Dorsten.
