Manga Maluca
Nine musicians, four percussionists, a piece of Brazil
„Manga Maluca“ – „crazy mango“ – is not just a name, but a programme. Nine musicians from Münster and Osnabrück bring the entire spectrum of Brazilian music to the stage: driving sambas from Rio, gentle bossa nova, MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), the funk-samba from Bahia, the rhythms of the capoeira martial art and a touch of Caribbean.
The rhythmic backbone works entirely without a drum kit: four percussionists hold the groove, joined by saxophone, trumpet, guitar and bass. Above it all floats the voice of Brazilian singer Fernanda Bastos Soares.
At „Trompetenbaum und Geigenfeige“, Hof Hesselmann in Münster-Mecklenbeck will become a small Brazilian island on 16 August. A Sunday afternoon for dancing, listening, swaying – or simply closing your eyes and drifting off.
