Energy Management System (EnMS)
An energy management system (EnMS) is used to monitor and manage energy data. The implementation of an energy management system aims at the continuous and systematic improvement of a company's energy-related performance. This EnMS can be certified according to ISO 50001 and is state-subsidised.
By applying an EnMS, energy costs can be reduced by about 30 percent, which brings a competitive advantage. In addition, the EnMS helps to identify process improvement potential, as it brings transparency to the energy flows in the company. In addition to these internal benefits, an EnMS also helps with external presentation if it is certified according to ISO 50001.

Responsibility of the management
The management must enforce the basic idea of an EnMS and actively exemplify it in order to implement this system successfully and sustainably.
Preparations for certification
Depending on the effort required and the size of the company, it can take six to twelve months to complete all preparations for the ISO 50001 audit. This includes, above all, the analysis of all energy consumption and the implementation of the corresponding improvement measures.
