Tailwind for further education

The state of North Rhine-Westphalia has introduced the Bildungsscheck 2.0 as part of its skilled labour offensive. With this funding instrument, the state government intends to provide flexible support for individual vocational training for people living in NRW. The subsidy is applied for online and paid out retroactively to the participants once the training programme has been completed.

The most important points at a glance:

  • The subsidy can be claimed once per calendar year.
  • Persons of legal age resident in NRW with a maximum taxable annual income of €50,000 (maximum €100,000 for married couples assessed jointly) are eligible for funding
  • The funding amount is 50% of the further education costs up to a maximum of €500.

This is how you proceed:

  1. Register: Register on the ESF online portal and confirm your registration with the code that was sent by e-mail.
  2. Submit your application: Register the training course under Bildungsscheck 2.0 - no later than the day before the course starts. Personal details and the course date will be recorded.
  3. Participate: Carrying out the further education course. The training provider must complete the confirmation of participation and issue an invoice.
  4. Upload documents: The following documents are uploaded to the portal after completion of the course: The completed certificate of participation, the invoice for the further training and the income tax assessment.
  5. Receive funding amount: The district government checks the application. If the funding decision is favourable, the grant will be transferred to the applicant.
