Alliance for Circular Construction Münsterland

How can buildings be designed, constructed, renovated, and demolished in a way that allows materials to be used for as long as possible and subsequently reused? The “Allianz zirkuläres Bauen Münsterland” (AziBauM) project addresses this question.
The project’s goal is to more firmly establish circular construction and renovation in the Münsterland region in practice. The focus is on knowledge and technology transfer: AziBauM brings together expertise from the skilled trades, businesses, local governments, academia, and education, highlights practical solutions, and supports their implementation.
A central hub is being established at the Construction and Energy Demonstration Center of the Münster Chamber of Crafts. There, circular building materials, components, and innovative solutions will be presented in a clear and practical manner. The offering is complemented by a mobile exhibition that brings the topic to the entire region.

The project is aimed in particular at:

  • Tradespeople and other businesses in the construction sector
  • Architects and planners
  • Local authorities and public developers
  • Educational institutions and opinion leaders
  • Other stakeholders involved in construction, renovation and demolition

Project goals

  • Strengthen circular construction and renovation in the Münsterland region and establish them as an equivalent alternative to new-build projects
  • Analyse key opportunities and barriers to circular construction and translate these into practical recommendations for action
  • Targeted outreach to and training of businesses – particularly small and medium-sized enterprises in the construction sector – as well as those involved in vocational training and further education
  • Disseminate knowledge across the region – via a mobile exhibition, roadshows and regional contact points
  • Expand the Construction and Energy Demonstration Centre as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience
  • Highlight best practice, innovative products and regional expertise
  • Initiate new collaborations and networks along the construction value chain
