“Münsterland Festival meets BurgJazz”: Three days of music, culture and family activities at Vischering Castle
Soon, the picturesque Vischering Castle in Lüdinghausen will once again become a stage for international jazz sounds and musical discoveries: from 19 to 21 June, it’s time once more for ‘Münsterland Festival meets BurgJazz’. Organised by Münsterland e.V. and the District of Coesfeld, this summer festival promises three days packed with live music – featuring eight concerts, outstanding artists and a varied programme.
To kick things off on Friday, Ukrainian singer and composer GANNA will join forces with Peruvian musician Laura Robles. Together, they create a fascinating musical dialogue between jazz, improvisation and folk influences, transcending boundaries and offering a fresh way to experience cultural traditions. This will be followed by a fusion of sitar sounds with accordion and tabla rhythms when the trio featuring Luciano Biondini, Klaus Falschlunger and Niti Ranjan Biswas takes to the stage.
On Saturday, the Italian-Nigerian pianist and singer Afra Kane blends jazz, soul, R&B and electronic textures into a finely nuanced, cinematic sound. Dutch trumpeter Eric Vloeimans then creates a poetic atmosphere with his project ‘Pico Bello Extended’.
The festival is particularly family-friendly on Sunday: as part of the Münsterland Picnic Days and the Castles and Fortresses Day, a free family day invites visitors to discover Vischering Castle together. With a children’s concert by the Cologne-based band GORILLA CLUB, a picnic concert by JIN JIM and a painting workshop with the Illustren Runde, visitors can look forward to a colourful open-air programme.
In addition, Brazilian pianist Amaro Freitas – one of the most exciting pianists on the international jazz scene – will be performing at Vischering Castle on Sunday. The Emil Brandqvist Trio from Sweden will bring “Münsterland Festival meets BurgJazz” to a glittering close – bridging the gap between Scandinavian jazz tradition and contemporary expression.
