The Heuer House in Beelen

At Haus Heuer in Beelen, the past comes to life! This lovingly restored half-timbered house invites you on a special journey back in time to the 1950s and 1960s. Authentic furniture, nostalgic furnishings and lots of little details bring everyday life from decades gone by back to life. But the house is far more than just a museum: as a cultural meeting place , it offers space for exhibitions, events, cosy coffee breaks and even civil wedding ceremonies. Every first Sunday of the month, the café opens its doors and invites you to linger. A destination that charmingly combines history with a vibrant sense of community.

A house full of life

There is something to discover in every room at Haus Heuer. On the ground floor, for example, is the entrance hall with its restored original tiles and a handcrafted cupboard dating from 1902. Upstairs, you’ll find changing exhibitions on regional history, as well as a reading room where you can browse through old books and chronicles. An open bookshelf also invites you to swap books for free.

The house also provides the perfect setting for special occasions. The spacious hall, which can accommodate around 50 people, can be used for seminars, talks or small family celebrations. Groups can visit the building by prior arrangement and combine their visit with an expert-led tour of the village.

Then and now …

The history of the house dates back to 1711. Originally, people and animals lived here under one roof. Following numerous structural alterations, the half-timbered building was listed as a protected monument in 1987. Thanks to the tremendous voluntary commitment of the DorfGut Beelen e. V. association, the historic property was extensively restored and reopened in 2013.
