Established jazz greats, Germany’s finest up-and-coming talents and innovative sound architects from the young scene will come together as equals at the Landesmusikakademie NRW from 14 to 19 September 2026 to explore new forms of performance, create unexpected soundscapes and demonstrate together what jazz can be in the 21st century: bold, free and full of energy. It’ll be grooving from the first note to the last, with fantastic solos and plenty of good cheer guaranteed.
The NDR Big Band is one of Europe’s leading jazz orchestras. It captivates audiences with its stylistic diversity, international appeal and exciting projects featuring renowned artists from the global jazz scene. Following the WDR Big Band, it is the second radio big band with which Bujazzo has the privilege of collaborating.
As TOYTOY, Silvan Strauß, drummer of the Hamburg-based electro-jazz quartet TOYTOY, bassist Daniel Stritzke, percussionist Samuel Wootton and guitarist Alex Eckert, working to break down the boundaries between hip-hop and electronically influenced, urban groove music, as well as the virtuosic improvisational music of jazz.
The Bundesjazzorchester is Germany’s leading young jazz orchestra. Since 1988, the German Music Council has been dedicated to promoting the next generation of German jazz musicians through this ensemble. The Bujazzo is regarded as a valuable link between training and professional practice, as well as a talent incubator for the successful jazz musicians of tomorrow.
