No concert of superlatives

The Corona pandemic and its effects are hitting the diverse cultural scene of Münsterland particularly hard: concerts and performances are being cancelled, facilities are being closed, people are showing solidarity by staying at home. No one can yet estimate the consequences. We at the Münsterland Festival are suffering all the more with the many affected actors - also and especially because we are not yet feeling any effects in our current situation, as the next edition is not planned until autumn 2021.

In the past, we at the Münsterland Festival have always been able to count on broad support from the entire Münsterland region - and therefore wanted to give back at least a small contribution to the cultural scene, with which we feel so strongly connected, with the fundraising campaign "No Concert of Superlatives". And thanks to you, it worked out wonderfully - thank you for your support!

Not on 3 May 2020, we invited to a "no concert of superlatives" - to an imaginary concert that did not exist in that form and instead relied on solidarity. Instead of singing and the sound of guitars, there was silence: the "No Concert of Superlatives" was not a concert, no one performed, no one played, no one sang. The "Kein-Konzert der Superlative" was a fundraising event organised by the Münsterland Festival with the aim of supporting art and culture in Münsterland.

We are grateful for the many fans and supporters of the festival who took part. So we sold around 300 tickets!

The total proceeds from the approximately 300 tickets sold were almost 4,500 euros and initially went to the Münsterland Art and Culture Foundation. The foundation then awarded unscheduled funding: 22 artists, cultural workers and ensembles from the region, whose engagements had been cancelled due to the Corona crisis, were able to enjoy funding. All recipients at a glance

Florian Albers (musical actor), Blasorchester Havixbeck (wind orchestra), Friedhelm Bruns (children's theatre), Dancing Willow (music), Das Fidele Matuya Theater/Clown fidelidad (children's theatre), Ein rätselhafter Schimmer (music & performance), Erpho Bell (theatre for older people), Gregor Grüneberg (youth theatre), Ralf Haarmann (theatre/sound art), Christian Kappe (musician), Alexander Klar (visual artist), MNEME Kollektiv (children's dance), Tamara Peters (musical actress), Peng Impro (impro theatre), Pindakaas (classical music), Placebo (impro theatre), and Theater Titanick (street theatre).

Note: As much as we were pleased about the willingness of the people in Münsterland to donate and the numerous tickets sold, we are aware that this support can do little or nothing to change the dramatic situation of many artists. This requires above all financial help from the federal and state governments. Numerous programmes are being and have been launched, but they are still not enough. We would like to call for solidarity with those working in the arts and culture and ask you to sign the following petition.

Donation handover with distance

Representing the handing over of donations to all those supported came together: (from left) Friederike Klodwig, Charlotte Petersen (both MNEME Kollektiv), Lars Krolik (Festival Director Münsterland e.V.), Andre Sebastian (Director Kulturbüro Münsterland) and musician Christian Kappe.
