Foamed concrete for 3D concrete printing

Foamed concrete for 3D concrete printing

Foamed concrete is a heat-insulating lightweight concrete produced using foam or air-entraining agents. It contains small aggregate over 2 mm. Foamed concrete is produced on site or delivered fresh as ready-mixed concrete. Foamed concrete is not a standardised concrete.

Germany's first building from the 3D concrete printer is currently standing in Beckum. The printing technology comes from the Danish company Cobod, the BOD2 printer is provided by the company Peri. The material used, "i.tech®3D", is developed by HeidelbergCement AG. With the BOD2, the print head moves over three axes on a permanently installed metal frame, so that the printer can move to any position within the construction.
