Autumn light in the Münsterland

Do you love the colours of autumn, are you enchanted by the early morning mist and does the autumnal tranquillity clear your mind? Then get in the saddle, lace up your hiking boots, spread out your picnic blanket and discover your Münsterland.

With short day trips or multi-day tours, we take you to the most beautiful vantage points, the most picturesque village centres and the cosiest picnic spots. Experiences that stick in your mind and heart.

On a grand tour

At the end of the cycling season, we go on a grand tour once again. The northern course of the 100 Castles Route takes you from Münster to the autumn-framed castles and palaces in the northern Münsterland. While nature around the Ems and Vechte rivers still hints at late summer, the hills of the Tecklenburg region are already dressed in autumn.

Small and large natural wonders await you on a cycle tour along the NaTourismus Route. Mysterious moors, fantastic panoramic views, colourful forests and tranquil lakes - hardly any other cycle tour lets you feel the change of the seasons more strongly.

The Sandstone Route takes you through the heart of the region. Magnificent castles among colourful autumn leaves, yellow mustard fields under a blue sky and gentle hills with distant views characterise your cycle tour through the Baumberge. Here you are far away from everyday life.

Follow in the footsteps of history on a cycle tour along the cycle path of the historic town centres. Let yourself be enchanted nine times by magnificent churches, small chapels, stately merchants' houses and unique half-timbered buildings. And what could be nicer than enjoying the last warm sunny days of the year on a historic market square at the end of the day?

My most beautiful autumn day

Take some time out from everyday life and relax!

What could be more beautiful than riding your own horse through autumnal nature? The sun breaks through the light canopy of the forests and makes the autumn leaves shine. Fields and meadows allow wide views of small towns and stately farmsteads. Combine your routes to suit your taste.

Do you prefer to explore nature by bike? Then beautiful routes to wild horses, through lovely villages and to legendary landscapes await you. Perfect for a completely relaxed day in the Münsterland.

Hikers are spoilt for choice. Do you want to climb the heights of the Dörenther Cliffs or would you rather take a leisurely stroll through a park? In any case, your hiking trip will always be a very special moment, which you can combine to your heart's content with culinary delights at a picnic.

The most beautiful viewpoints in autumn

Around the Longinus Tower

On a clear day, the view from the Longinus Tower seems to go on into infinity. No wonder, after all, the tower in Nottuln marks the highest point in Münsterland. The bright yellow of the mustard fields sets accents between meadows and small forests.

It is worth taking a walk to explore the surroundings. Again and again, completely new perspectives open up in all directions.

Tip: The Ludgerusweg makes hikers' hearts beat faster.

Tecklenburg

It is a wonderful contrast. In the middle of the old town, small alleys dominate the picture and the eye is caught by historic half-timbered houses. Only a few metres further on, the view opens up either over the spa gardens to the heights of the Teutoburg Forest or from the "Münsterland Blick" to the deep plains of the Münsterland.

A stay can be wonderfully combined with a hike on a Teuto loop .

Bentheim Castle

Shortly before the Dutch border, Bentheim Castle rises out of the otherwise flat landscape. The only hilltop castle in the region towers mightily over the small town of Bad Bentheim. The castle walls offer a unique panoramic view. The hilly landscape stretches far out towards the horizon and seems never-ending. The castle not only offers great views, but also fascinating insights. A tour through the inner courtyard and over the mighty castle walls brings history back to life.
