MÜNSTERLAND/KREIS COESFELD. The Münsterland culture podcast "Mission Weißer Flamingo" celebrates its first anniversary - and with episode 13 also the anniversary of Burg Vischering in Lüdinghausen. The town's landmark is a proud 750 years old. Reason enough for podcast producer Anna-Ida Almus to take a look at the eventful history of the moated castle.
In the interview, Almus talks to Swenja Janning, cultural officer in the Coesfeld district, about the castle's special features, the new digital offerings and the current special exhibition by Hermann Nitsch. "We have a castle that offers something for everyone," says Swenja Janning. "From kindergarten to brewing beer, from cooking in the castle kitchen to major events."
In addition, Norma Sukup - responsible for cultural education at the castle - and event manager Lukas Bertels reveal their very personal highlights in outreach and the cultural programme.
For podcast maker Anna-Ida Almus, the acoustic glimpse into the castle was a special event: "It's always exciting to learn more about the work behind the places. During my visit to the castle, I was able to accompany a school class during the castle workshop. The hustle and bustle was a little too excited for an audio recording, but I saw how much fun the castle gives even the little visitors."
In addition, Almus is also happy about her own anniversary: her culture podcast has been around for a year now, and has reached around 3000 listeners so far. "And I've probably already flown 800 kilometres through the region with the Flamingo," says Almus. "By the way, as a cherry on top of the birthday cake, there are the best slips of the tongue from 13 episodes at the end of the current episode."
The podcast is a project of the Münsterland e.V. cultural office. You can listen to it at www.muensterland.com/weisserflamingo and on the audio platforms Soundcloud, Spotify and iTunes.
