MÜNSTERLAND. The first Münsterland Picnic Days are in the starting blocks and will put the region in a picnic mood from 18 to 20 June. Under the motto "I. You. We. Münsterland celebrates picnics!", locals, guests and picnic enthusiasts are invited to celebrate the Münsterland way of life together. At www.muensterland.com/picknickt age you will find numerous picnic events, the most beautiful places, recipes and tips for a picnic on your own. The initiator is Münsterland e.V., which has called on numerous players in the region to organise picnic events.
Thanks to the low incidence values and easing of the last few days, many picnic events will be able to take place at short notice after all. The list of events will be continuously updated.
The picnic days kick off on 18 June as International Picnic Day, for example with a poetry slam and picnic in Gronau. On 19 June, the programme continues with a zero-waste picnic in Rheine or a culinary bike tour in Steinfurt. 20 June is dedicated to the Castles and Palaces Day and offers picnics in front of the region's most beautiful backdrops, for example a picnic sound art day at Haus Nottbeck in Oelde or a colourful picnic programme on the castle grounds in Ahaus.
A recent representative survey commissioned by Münsterland e.V. shows that the people of Münsterland are made for three-day picnics: "Almost every second Münsterlander goes on a picnic several times a year, which is more often than the national average," says Melanie Schlüters, project manager for Picnic³ at Münsterland e.V. "Because picnics are our attitude to life in Münsterland: we are sociable, close to nature and enjoy the good life. For example, at a picnic in your own garden, with good friends or in combination with a cycle tour. We also expressly invite you to do this on the picnic days."
Schlüters is happy about the current pandemic situation in Münsterland: "It's great to see that the whole region is organising with all its might to let the recently planned picnic events take place at short notice after all."
The following locations have registered events, with more to follow: Ahaus, Gronau, Haltern am See, Hörstel, Münster, Oelde, Rheine, Steinfurt, Tecklenburg, Vreden, Wadersloh-Liesborn. The programme is available on the website www.muensterland.com/picknicktage and is constantly updated with further events and current information.
The picnic days will continue to be celebrated around 18 June, International Picnic Day.
