Generative artificial intelligence has long since become an indispensable part of everyday working life in the arts and culture – whilst at the same time raising new technical, creative and legal questions. The event ‘Generative AI in Art and Culture: Current Status & Practical Applications’ provides answers and offers a well-founded introduction to the topic. It is organised by the Kulturbüro des Münsterland e.V. as part of its Kulturakademie Münsterland continuing education programme – on Wednesday 3 June, from 10 am to 5 pm at the VHS Telgte (Room 2), Baßfeld 5 in Telgte.

The seminar focuses on AI systems that generate text, images and video, as well as their potential applications in various working contexts. Well-known programmes such as ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, Firefly, Runway, Microsoft Copilot and Gemini will be presented and contextualised. Using concrete examples, the seminar will demonstrate how generative AI can be usefully integrated into work processes.

In addition, the event will cover the methodological foundations for practical application: creating effective prompts, developing precise problem descriptions and applying what is known as ‘new writing’. The legal framework, data protection and the labelling requirements of the EU AI Act, which come into force in August 2026, are explained in a clear and practical manner. The aim is to provide guidance and enable the confident, responsible use of generative AI.

The target audience includes cultural practitioners who are already familiar with generative AI or have gained initial experience with it, and who wish to gain a sound understanding of its potential applications, limitations and legal framework for their own practice. Speaker Kai Heddergott is a communications consultant and lecturer in AI management, specialising in the responsible use of generative AI.
