Getting to know each other over culinary delights in the Kreuzviertel: 14 newcomers make contacts on a tour of Münster

Service Onboarding@Münsterland supports skilled workers in their arrival

Delicious and informative at the same time: that was the welcome event on Saturday with 14 newcomers to Münster. During a culinary tour through Münster's Kreuzviertel district, the participants made contacts and discovered the beautiful district not only architecturally, but also culinary. The Onboarding@Münsterland service of Münsterland e.V., which supports skilled workers in arriving and settling in Münsterland, as well as employers in the region in recruiting skilled workers, had invited the participants.

"We took the newcomers on a little journey of discovery. And what better way to discover Münsterland and Münster in particular than through all the senses, from seeing to tasting? In addition, such a culinary city tour provides plenty to talk about and is a great icebreaker for the participants to exchange ideas and get to know each other," said Eva Kleingräber from the Service Onboarding@Münsterland team at Münsterland e.V.

During the guided tour with Peter Horstmann from "k3 stadtführungen", the newcomers were not only inspired by the charm, the art nouveau architecture and the relaxed attitude to life in Münster's Kreuzviertel. Along the way, they also enjoyed a variety of culinary surprises, such as delicacies from the long-established butcher's shop and the party service Eschrich in Melchersstraße to the exquisite macarons at Café Monsieur Macaron on the Promenade. In the process, they learned a lot about the history of the district. At the Kreuztor, for example, the participants marvelled at the Villa Terfloth from 1905, which was popularly called the "sugar villa" because the man who gave it its name earned his money with sugar, among other things.

Along the way, the newcomers exchanged their impressions of the region and its people. They came not only from Münster, but also from Havixbeck, Ahaus, Borken and Oelde, among others. "We moved to Münster from Kassel brand new. It all started with a short holiday in Münsterland: We fell in love with the region with its high quality of life, so we decided to move our centre of life to Münster. We feel very much at home. Through the culinary tour today, we got to know a lot and were able to make great contacts with other newcomers," Sarah Brecke and Michael Lesniak told us.

The welcome event is part of the Münsterland-wide service Onboarding@Münsterland. With this format, the service brings like-minded people together and discovers exciting places in the region with them so that they arrive and also want to stay. The Onboarding@Münsterland service was developed as a regional initiative by employers and business players in the Münsterland region, and is implemented by Münsterland e.V. with the support of numerous institutions in the region. It supports employers in employer branding and location marketing as well as skilled workers in arriving, feeling good and staying in the region. The service includes not only events such as the Welcome Event, but also advisory services for skilled workers.

The next welcome event will take place on 7 May (Saturday) in Dülmen. It will include a bus tour to the Dülmen wild horses in the Merfelder Bruch nature reserve. Further information at www.onboarding-muensterland.com
