Most successful NRW region: 13 million euros in funding for Münsterland

Regio.NRW Call: Jury assesses nine ERDF projects favourably

Important signal for the future of the Münsterland: In the current call for projects from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Münsterland is the most successful region in NRW. Together with regional partners, Münsterland e.V. took part in the ERDF funding call "Regio.NRW - Transformation". A total of nine projects with a funding volume of 13 million euros were positively assessed by a jury. This means that more than 20 per cent of the total funding for NRW will flow into the Münsterland region.

"The current ERDF success impressively demonstrates how considerable added value can be generated for the region through regionally coordinated strategies, sound project development and a strong partnership between stakeholders from business, science and politics," says Andreas Grotendorst, CEO of Münsterland e.V. The regional management organisation is in charge of three projects. It was responsible for the coordination and harmonisation process for all of them. Wirtschaftsförderung Münster, IHK Nord Westfalen, HWK Münster, FH Münster and Technologieförderung Münster can also look forward to project management.

"Münsterland e.V. and its partners are attracting massive amounts of funding to the region. This is an important signal for the future viability of the Münsterland and strengthens regional cohesion in transformation issues," adds Grotendorst. All projects are also focussed on sustainability, innovation and the future.

Positively assessed projects with Münsterland e.V. as the lead organisation:

  • TOR@Münsterland: promoting the resilience of SMEs, AI, digital tools, leadership programme (volume: 2.56 million euros)
  • Circular bioeconomy: Utilisation of biogenic side streams, regional value creation, bioeconomy (volume: 2.10 million euros)
  • Zukunft Unternehmensnachfolge Münsterland: Securing business succession in SMEs, promoting transformation (volume: 1.29 million euros)

The integrated action plan "Transformation Münster.LAND (sustainable - cosmopolitan - digital)" was developed as part of the regionally coordinated Münster.LAND strategy process. This serves as a guideline for key areas of transformation in the region - from climate protection and the energy transition to digitalisation, the circular economy, innovation and securing skilled workers.
