Onboarding meets Heimat Heroes: 24 newcomers to the region make contacts and test Münsterland aperitifs

This is how good Münsterland tastes: At the evening tasting at the Schnaps Store of Heimat Heroes in Münster, 24 Münsterland newcomers met on Thursday to make contacts and taste regional specialities. The invitation was extended by the Onboarding@Münsterland service of Münsterland e.V., which regularly organises welcome events in the region for new Münsterlanders. Creative aperitif cocktails, some with unusual ingredients, as well as wines and homemade Italian antipasti were available for tasting.

"Our welcome events are primarily about connecting newcomers to our region with like-minded people. At the same time, however, they should also explore the region in the process," emphasised Paulina Wittich from the Onboarding@Münsterland service of Münsterland e.V. The Heimat Heroes interpret traditional regional food and drink in a completely new way: for example, an aperitif made of rhubarb, plum and orange or a liqueur with the taste of traditional men's cream is created. "The tasting provided the perfect setting to socialise in a relaxed atmosphere and exchange ideas about the first experiences in the new home."

New Münsterlander Verena Rahe lived in Hamburg for nine years and is happy to find a bit of big city flair again in Münster. "I originally come from the district of Osnabrück and wanted to move back near my family," the 36-year-old told the welcome event in Münster. Among the newcomers, she found many like-minded people who had also moved to Münsterland from a big city. "Münster is little Hamburg for me. The city and the people are more laid-back - there's just less big-city stress and yet you have everything you need."
