“Cycling Region in Dialogue”: A trip for influencers takes them through the Warendorf district

35 experts from the tourism sector, tourism businesses and planning organisations learn about the attractions and latest developments in the Münsterland Cycling Region

Cycling together, getting to know local attractions and sharing experiences: on 15 September 2026, Münsterland e.V. held its fourth ‘Radregion im Dialog’ tour for industry representatives. 35 experts from the tourism sector, tourism businesses and planning organisations took part in the tour, which this year wound its way through the district of Warendorf.

From Warendorf, the route first led to Sassenberg and the Heidewald Camping Park. A guided tour focused on the camping and glamping facilities on offer, as well as the site’s latest developments. The next stop was Feldmarksee, where participants gained insights into the development of the leisure area and its significance for tourism in Sassenberg and the wider region.

The tour then continued to Harkotten von Korff Castle. A picnic lunch provided an opportunity for conversation and professional discussion. The discussion also looked beyond the borders of the Münsterland region: Plans were presented for the junction system in the neighbouring Osnabrücker Land region and its connection to the Münsterland. In addition, Münsterland e.V. provided information on facilities and information boards along the cycle routes in the region.

“An attractive cycling region is not created by a good network of cycle paths alone. Equally crucial are the tourist attractions along the routes and close cooperation across municipal and regional boundaries. With ‘Radregion im Dialog’, we bring the various stakeholders together, showcase good examples directly on site and create space for professional exchange,” says Michael Kösters, Head of Tourism at Münsterland e.V.

On the return journey to Warendorf, the focus was on specific tour options in the Warendorf district: 14 detailed cycle tours cover different parts of the district and are available to visitors both digitally and in printed form.

The trip for key influencers concluded with a get-together over coffee and cake in the garden of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Stud in Warendorf. There, the participants learnt about the process of becoming a member of the Working Group for Pedestrian- and Cycle-Friendly Towns, Municipalities and Districts in North Rhine-Westphalia (AGFS) and the opportunities this offers.

Through the ‘Radregion im Dialog’ (Cycling Region in Dialogue) series of events, Münsterland e.V. promotes knowledge transfer and networking amongst tourism stakeholders in the region. The aim is to learn about current developments and offerings directly on the ground, to exchange experiences and to provide impetus for the joint further development of the Münsterland cycling region.
