Sustainability in culture: New counselling service from the Münsterland Cultural Office

How can work in the arts and culture be made more sustainable? Which areas are climate-relevant? Where can I find information and possible funding programmes on this topic? These and similar questions can now be answered by the sustainability counselling service of the Münsterland e.V. cultural office.

Andre Sebastian, Head of the Münsterland e.V. Cultural Office, completed the "Transformation Manager for Sustainable Culture" training programme last year. He explains: "Thanks to the training, we can support cultural institutions in anchoring sustainable working methods in their daily practice." This includes strategic environmental management systems and various climate accounting tools that can be used to monitor and improve the environmental impact of an organisation's own work. Knowledge of material cycles can help to better organise resources. "Sustainability should no longer be equated with renunciation and prohibition - it needs new, positive narratives. Culture can make a big difference here. We want to support cultural institutions in acquiring the necessary knowledge," emphasises Andre Sebastian. Last but not least, it is also about prioritising the possible measures, also against the background of different financial possibilities.
