Your itinerary for the Bocholter Landpartie

Day 1

Cycling along the Bocholter Aa

Bocholt - Isselburg - Bocholt (approx. 33 km)

Immediately after arrival, a visit to the colourful weekly market in front of the historic town hall is a must. Afterwards, you can take your first bike tour in the Hohe Mark Nature Park along the river Bocholter Aa to Anholt Castle. Here you can explore the beautiful gardens around the castle. Three baroque gardens, a landscape park and a maze surrounded by imposing castle walls await you. The biotope wildlife park Anholter Schweiz is in the immediate vicinity. Seven individual biotopes provide a habitat for a variety of native animals in large, animal-friendly enclosures. An eye-catcher is the "Swiss cottage" on an island in the park. Take your time and enjoy the unique nature and wildlife.

Day 2

Cycling in Bocholt

Bocholt - Aalten - Breedevoort (approx. 46 km)

A trip to our Dutch neighbours in the romantic Achterhoek region is on the agenda: be sure to visit the charming little book town of Bredevoort. You can feel the medieval flair of the town in the narrow streets. Here you can experience history, crafts, art and culture up close. The Netherlands is known for its diverse selection of home-made cheeses. We recommend a stop at a farmhouse cheese dairy (Kaasboerderij) along the route. Here you can sample the delicacies for yourself on cosy terraces or buy a souvenir or two for those back home. End the day with your meal voucher in one of the restaurants listed.

Day 3

LWL-Museum Textilwerk

Discover Bocholt

Today you should make time for the interesting LWL Museum Textilwerk. In the heart of the new cultural quarter kubaai, the museum is located on two sites to the left and right of the river Bocholter Aa. The weaving mill is a fully functional museum factory with more than 30 looms, a boiler house, a machine house, a workshop, a "master craftsman's booth" and a warehouse, documenting the work process of a typical textile factory from the period between 1900 and 1960. Connected by a bridge, on the other side of the Bocholter Aa you will find the second part of the LWL Museum Textilwerk in the former Herding spinning mill, a four-storey brick building. Special exhibitions on the history of fashion and the textile industry are regularly held here on two levels. The Aasee lake opposite the museum, with its diverse leisure facilities and a beach café with numerous sunbathing spots, is a great way to round off your stay.
