Cycling Tour Münsterland Enjoy

Spend a few hours in and around Steinfurt. A walk through the narrow streets and across the market of Burgsteinfurt is rewarding. From the beautiful old town, it is only a few metres to Steinfurt Castle, which is well worth seeing. Together with the gatehouse, the castle offers a particularly beautiful motif. You should not miss a walk through the Bagno Park with its historic concert gallery.

You cycle through the beautiful landscape of the Münsterland. The route takes you south into the heart of Münsterland. Past fields and meadows, interrupted only by the small town of Laer, the cycle tour takes you to Havixbeck. Here, a visit to the sandstone museum is particularly worthwhile. Hardly any other building material has shaped the region so much and is still visible for miles around. An interesting tour through the exhibition awaits you. Past Havixbeck House, the path now leads into the hilly area of the Baumberge. Take some time and make a short detour to the Longinus Tower. From the hill you have a great panoramic view over the Münsterland. Finally, you will reach Billerbeck, your destination for today's stage.

Before you leave Billerbeck, you should visit the town's impressive cathedral. A look inside is definitely worthwhile. On the next few kilometres, the Münsterland again presents itself as decidedly rural. You will reach Legden-Asbeck without any major climbs. The beautiful village surprises with its monastery. Admire the beautiful cloister and take advantage of the place for a short rest. The next destination is Heek. Don't miss a visit to the Burgmannshöfe. Now it is not far to Gronau-Epe. If your schedule allows it, a visit to the rock`n'pop museum in Gronau is highly recommended.

Under the wide sky of the western Münsterland, the cycle tour now takes you eastwards. Your route will take you via Bad Bentheim. The town is mainly known as a spa and bathing resort, but Bentheim Castle is also a tourist highlight and should not be missed on any tour. It is the largest hilltop castle in northwest Germany and was first mentioned in 1050. On the last section, the Münsterland once again shows its idyllic side. The small but charming community of Neuenkirchen is the place to stay overnight.

The last day of your journey takes you back to Steinfurt. But before that, you'll reach Rheine. Take a short canoe trip on the Ems, visit the beautiful Bentlage Monastery and breathe in the salty air in the Salinenpark. Your way leads you through the park landscape of the Münsterland to the district town of Steinfurt. If you haven't already visited the castle and the Bagno Park on the day of your arrival, don't miss this opportunity to round off your trip.
