Events in Bocholt

Summer sounds, relaxing hours by the water and a festival atmosphere in the open air: when the music starts up again at the bathing bay of the Bocholt Aasee, it's time for the Bocholt Aasee Festival. For three days, the area becomes a lively meeting place for families, friends and music enthusiasts. Visitors can look forward to a free stage programme - presented by RADIO WMW - with great live bands and DJs, a large children's play area and a wide range of food trucks and refreshing drinks.

With a twirled moustache and bowler hat, the Bocholt quack in the black frock coat welcomes his guests in Bocholt at the Europabrunnen fountain in front of the historic town hall. He is the Bocholt city guide and storyteller from around 1900.

Frank Telaar, alias the Bocholt Quack, takes participants on a 90-minute tour through Bocholt's history at the beginning of the 20th century. There are many interesting and interesting facts about the lives of Bocholt's citizens and the booming textile industry from this exciting era.

He talks about the doctor Dr Bönninghausen on Nordstraße and the "Restauration Ellering" on Ravardistraße, where people drank the odd beer back then, which once cost 24 pfennigs. Money had to be earned hard and there were considerable differences in living standards between the social classes.

The quack gives an entertaining and amusing account of everyday life and explains some of the history of the city's buildings, squares and streets in Bocholt.

This tour is also ideal for school classes.

Meeting point: Europabrunnen in front of the historic town hall

On Wednesday, 2 September, there will once again be a market in Bocholt's city centre - the goods will be presented in the usual way and at the familiar stalls on St.-Georg-Platz, the market in front of the historic town hall, on Nordstraße, on Neustraße, on Osterstraße and on Neutorplatz. From 9.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m., all visitors to the city centre are invited to stroll and browse through the pedestrian areas of the Krammarkt.

Good news for fans of Phil Collins and the legendary band "Genesis": on Saturday, 5 September 2026, the grounds of the Bahia outdoor pool will once again be transformed into an atmospheric concert arena.

This time, the band "PHIL - The Genesis & Phil Collins Tribute Show" will be on stage at the WattExtra Open Air, presenting the unmistakable sound of the British megastar and his legendary band Genesis.

The eleven-piece band Phil, led by singer Jürgen "Phil" Mayer, is considered one of the most authentic tribute shows in Europe. Their repertoire includes all the hits by Phil Collins and Genesis - from classics such as "Easy Lover", "Another Day in Paradise" and "Invisible Touch" to real fan favourites.

The support band SNOB performs at 7 pm.

The ticket price is €27.50 (incl. all fees). Admission is from 6 pm.

A guided cycle tour is a wonderful way to explore the region by bike and learn more about its history, culture and beautiful landscape.

The cycle tour crosses the border into the western Münsterland and the Dutch Achterhoek. A local guide provides interesting information and stories about the border town of Bocholt.

The tour with your own bike starts either at the LWL-Museum Textilwerk or at the car park of the sports club TSV Bocholt, Hemdener Weg 163, where participants are given an insight into the history of Bocholt and the development of the textile town.

The route continues by bike along paved cycle paths and quiet lanes, past meadows, fields, farms and churches that reflect the picturesque landscape of the Münsterland.

Beyond the "green border", the Achterhoek border region is explored on Dutch cycle paths, the "Fietspaden". After a break, the group sets off on the return journey.

The cycle tour ends after about five hours and around 50 kilometres at the car park of the LWL-Museum Textilwerk on Uhlandstraße.

Participation is at your own risk. Wearing a cycle helmet is recommended. You should bring your own drinks and snacks.

Registration is required due to the limited number of participants.

The tour will not take place if there is an official storm warning.

Discover Bocholt in a different way...without a bike and without a strenuous walk!

The public Segway tours around Bocholt take you through the city, out into the countryside and to the Aasee lake with an experienced guide.

After a briefing and a test ride on Berliner Platz, the tour starts through Bocholt. Past the Mariengymnasium, along the Bocholter Aa and past the Protestant Christuskirche church, the Segway tour takes you along low-traffic roads to the city forest. The participants then head towards the Hohenhorster Berge past the Bocholter Aasee lake to the podium bridge at the LWL-Museum Textilwerk in the kubaai cultural quarter. The city tour then ends at the starting point on Berliner Platz.

A short break is planned at Aasee, where those who wish to can fortify themselves for the onward journey.

This Segway tour can of course also be booked for private groups on individual dates.

In 2026, the traditional Bokeltsen Treff will once again take place on the last weekend in September with Sunday shopping. Under the motto "Experience fun and games together", a day is organised for the whole family. Children can use the large play equipment distributed throughout the city centre for a day free of charge while their parents shop, stroll around, meet up with friends for a drink, ice cream, cake or snack, or simply watch their children play. During the special opening hours from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., customers are very welcome to visit the shops in the city centre.

Singing Voices – The Best of 25 Years

Treat yourself to a very special musical treat: on 3 October 2026, from 5 pm in the GESA Forum, come and experience the annual concert by Singing Voices, the adult choir of the Rhede Music School Association. Under the motto ‘Simply the best’, the ensemble will present a harmonious mix of a wide variety of songs from the choir’s past 25 years.

Choir director Michael Hartel transforms over 60 expressive voices into an impressive four-part symphony. Some of the singers have been with the choir since the very beginning, whilst others have brought a breath of fresh air to the repertoire in recent years. For the anniversary concert, the choir has selected, amongst other things, eight of its favourite songs, which are complemented by well-known and contemporary pop songs – simply the best, in fact. Look forward to a concert featuring melodies to sing along to, rhythms to clap along to and breathtaking musical highlights!
