Do you want the food fresh on the table? No problem, the popular Ibbenbüren weekly markets offer a wide range of fresh produce from the Neumarkt, the Oberer Markt Marktstraße and the Unterer Markt offer a wide range of fresh produce direct directly from the producer.

Reading, listening, being creative and having fun together – that’s the Summer Reading Club (SLC)! As one of the largest projects promoting reading in North Rhine-Westphalia, the SLC delights children, young people and adults every year. The project is organised by the Centre for Public Libraries in North Rhine-Westphalia and funded by the State Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Whether on your own or as part of a group with friends or family: during the summer holidays, you can read books, listen to audiobooks and take part in exciting events. For every book you read, every audiobook you listen to and lots of activities, you’ll collect stamps in your logbook.

You can collect your logbook when you register here at the municipal library. In the logbook, you can rate the books you’ve read, create creative entries and record your favourite summer memories. Anyone who collects at least three stamps successfully completes the Summer Reading Club and receives a certificate. In the case of teams, each member must contribute at least one stamp of their own.

Once again this year, there are special events in store for you. Highlights include our Minecraft reading session and the grand closing event with an awards ceremony, featuring author and illustrator Thilo, who will take participants on an exciting monster hunt.

On 2 August 2026, a major family culture festival will take place from 11 am to 5 pm at the Oberer Markt in Ibbenbüren. Together with all our partners, we will be offering a varied, free programme – ranging from puppet theatre, choirs and theatre performances to readings and an open-air concert. At the same time, numerous projects promoting culture will be showcasing themselves at information stands and inviting children to take part in creative hands-on activities. Our shared goal remains clear: to raise the profile of culture in Ibbenbüren, to build connections and to make it accessible to everyone. Anyone interested is warmly invited to become part of this vibrant network.

The Ibbenbüren ZUE’s public consultation hours offer residents the opportunity to engage directly with the neighbourhood manager, Berkay Dalkiran.

It serves as a transparent platform for discussing neighbourhood concerns, clarifying questions about current projects or volunteering, and working together to find solution-oriented approaches.

The aim of the residents’ consultation hour is to strengthen local community spirit, promote open dialogue and actively foster cooperation between the ZUE Ibbenbüren and the local community.
