Recke is sporty and tradition-conscious. The Easter Run and the Steinbeck Triathlon attract numerous athletes and spectators to the northern Münsterland every year. Families feel particularly at home at the Hollandmarkt and the Spring Festival. In addition, the events of the local history society, for example on Mill Day, enrich Recke's calendar of events.

The Local History Society warmly invites you to the ‘Open Monuments Day’ at the historic Ruthemühle in Recke-Steinbeck.
A varied programme for the whole family awaits visitors around the listed mill.
Refreshments will be plentiful: look forward to potato pancakes, bratwurst, freshly baked bread, as well as coffee and cake.
The Ruthemühle, including the museum, will be open and available to visit.

The Recke Cultural Association is organising the 4th open-air cinema evening at the Waldfreibad. The film being shown is “Walk the Line”, the moving biopic about country singer Johnny Cash and his relationship with June Carter. Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon give outstanding performances in the lead roles, accompanied by authentic musical interludes.
Enjoy this special open-air cinema evening in a stunning setting. A large number of seats are available. As a seat cannot be guaranteed, we recommend bringing your own chairs, cushions or seating.
Doors open at 6.00 pm; the film starts at 8.00 pm.
Admission is free. The kiosk will be open.
Any donations will go towards the cultural association.
Three lively and cheerful days of festivities at the Recke fair. This popular parish fair is one of the most traditional folk festivals in the Tecklenburger Land region and is synonymous with good old-fashioned cosiness every year.
The fair gets underway with the mayor tapping the first barrel on Saturday at 4 pm in the market square, accompanied by music. There’s also live music in the large marquee by the indoor swimming pool and on the C&C stage. Fair Sunday gets off to a flying start with a morning pint in the marquee and at the town hall.
Things really get going again on Monday as the fair draws to a close. From 10 am to 1 pm there’s a family morning with reduced admission prices, followed by a grand fireworks display after dark. With the fireworks, the fairground operators in Recke express their thanks and bid farewell after three wonderful days of the fair. Afterwards, as the fair draws to a close, there’s one last chance to soak up the fair atmosphere. At the fairgrounds by the town hall and in the town centre, the fairground operators, rides and festival chefs set the scene.

Guided hike on the Teutoschleifchen Steinbecker Runde
There is a lot to discover on this varied hike: The tour leads through the Buchholzer Forst up to the observation tower, through the charming centre of Steinbeck, along the Mittelland Canal back to the Marina Recke marina with café.
Distance: 7.5 km, duration approx. 3.5 hours incl. break.
Participation free of charge, donations welcome.

The municipality of Recke is once again taking part in this year’s district-wide travelling exhibition “Jugend gestaltet”. From 7 October to 13 November, selected works by young artists from across the Steinfurt district will be on display at Recke Town Hall.
The exhibition features imaginative and creative paintings, collages and prints. It offers an insight into the thoughts and forms of expression of the younger generation.
The exhibition is open to the public during the Recke Town Hall’s regular opening hours.

Together with the Recke Business Initiative (WIR), the Recke handicraft group invites you to the traditional sales exhibition in the town hall. Visitors can expect a large selection of lovingly made handicrafts, including embroidery, crochet and knitting, tablecloths, aprons, socks, gifts and Christmas decorations.
A café will provide refreshments during the event and invites visitors to linger.
Admission is free. The proceeds from the sale will be donated to social projects and organisations, including Sister Rolfes' Romania aid and the Fürstenberg School's Tanzania aid.
The popular autumn market invites you to stroll through the centre of Recke. In addition to the many stalls with autumnal products and delicious food and drink, there is once again a large handicraft sales exhibition in the town hall. Retailers will be open on this Sunday from 13:00 to 18:00 and will be offering numerous special offers. The little ones are also catered for, with the popular children's carousel doing its rounds again.
