Recke is sporty and tradition-conscious. The Easter Run and the Steinbeck Triathlon attract numerous athletes and spectators to the northern Münsterland every year. Families feel particularly at home at the Hollandmarkt and the Spring Festival. In addition, the events of the local history society, for example on Mill Day, enrich Recke's calendar of events.

On the occasion of the Open Monument Day, the Recke Local History Society offers a colourful programme at the
Ruthemühle. The spinning wheels are running in the Heimathaus. Visitors can watch the active members of the local history society spinning and weaving, as was the custom more than a hundred years ago. The folk dance group will present old German dances, and there will be plenty of food and drink. The delicious grated pancakes and freshly baked bread from the bakery are already a tradition. The café at the Ruthemühle is also open on Monument Day and treats visitors to homemade cakes. The visit of the old-timer tractor drivers to the Ruthemühle is already a tradition. The loud snorting and the typical chugging of the decades-old tractors can be heard from far away.
