Geomuseum of the University of Münster
The Geomuseum of the University of Münster, housed in a former aristocratic palace in the city centre of Münster, illustrates the 13.8 billion year history of our Earth - from the Big Bang to the present day!
Take a look into the universe and find out, among other things, why Münster was once located on the equator, what meteorites have to do with the formation of the Earth and what once happened to our fish from the Cretaceous Sea. Unique exhibits from Westphalia are presented in 14 themed areas and convey knowledge about the history of the earth and the history of life. One of the highlights of the exhibition: the 43,000-year-old mammoth, found in Ahlen in 1910 and the museum's landmark.
Admission is free. Educational programmes and workshops for research and experimentation are offered for children and young people by arrangement.
