Essential oils are far more than just pleasant room fragrances – when used correctly, they promote wellbeing, relief and relaxation in everyday life as well as in professional care settings.

In this compact course, you’ll learn the basics of these plant-based remedies in a safe and practical way.

Acquired in spring 2025 and now restored, the painting explores numerous aspects of the art of painting, drawing clear parallels with the Dutch masters of the 17th century. The exhibition focuses on the new acquisition and is complemented by a selection of works from the collection.

The German actor, comedian, parodist, artist and Grimme Prize winner Max Giermann was born in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1975. He became known to a wide audience as a master of parody. The title of the exhibition, “Endstation Leinwand”, is a neologism that essentially describes an artistic turning point in Max Giermann’s work. For years, he has parodied the actor Klaus Kinski and also created paintings of Kinski. The final painting in this series is entitled “Das Ende der Raserei” (The End of the Frenzy). With this painting, he aims to bring his exploration of Kinski to a close. When Giermann picks up his brush, the masquerade gives way to absolute creative freedom. The exhibition brings together Giermann’s latest works.

Once again this autumn and winter, a wide variety of artistic perspectives will come together at Vischering Castle. In line with this year’s theme, ‘Photography and Truth’, ART Vischering is also placing a particular emphasis on photographic art. With established figures from the contemporary art scene, up-and-coming artists and two new galleries making their debut at ART Vischering, this creates a truly special encounter between a wide variety of artistic approaches.

During the autumn half-term holidays, the Gene-LAB at the LWL Museum of Natural History will once again become a place for young researchers to carry out experiments. On Saturdays,24 October and 31 October,children and families can look forward to avaried programme of hands-on activities centred around the current exhibitions, running from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm.

Those interested can delve into times long past and discover what North Rhine-Westphalia looked like in the past. Or they can stay in the present and take a closer look at cells and DNA. There is plenty to learn and experience during the autumn half-term holidays at the Gene-LAB and in the exhibitions. Visitors can explore fossils and discover the secrets hidden within them. Or they can set off in search of traces of prehistoric creatures and the creatures that inhabit our landscapes today. You can also find out which foods you can eat with which teeth, or take a tour of the exhibitions with the prehistoric quiz and the Gene Rally.
