Cycling on the Westrup Heath

Just leave your bike behind for once and hike the sandy paths of the Westrup Heath. The picturesque heath area near Haltern am See is one of the most beautiful landscapes in Münsterland. A cycle tour can be wonderfully combined with a detour to the reservoir, the rose garden in Seppenrade or Vischering Castle in Lüdinghausen. Wooded areas alternate with open landscapes. In the town centre of Haltern am See and on the shores of the lake you will find nice places to stop for a bite to eat.

4,500 km of signposted cycle paths criss-cross the Münsterland region. The Westruper Heide can also be reached via the practical network of junctions. The network of junctions offers countless opportunities for cycle tours and circular routes through the Münsterland region.

Due to the sandy soil, there are no cycle paths within the heath.
