Cycling on the Westrup Heath

Just leave your bike behind for once and hike the sandy paths of the Westrup Heath. The picturesque heath area near Haltern am See is one of the most beautiful landscapes in Münsterland. A cycle tour can be wonderfully combined with a detour to the reservoir, the rose garden in Seppenrade or Vischering Castle in Lüdinghausen. Wooded areas alternate with open landscapes. In the town centre of Haltern am See and on the shores of the lake you will find nice places to stop for a bite to eat.

Westruper Heide in the Münsterland cycling region

4,500 km of signposted cycle paths criss-cross the Münsterland. The Westrup Heath can also be reached via the practical honeycomb system. The honeycomb system offers countless opportunities for cycling tours and circular routes through the Münsterland region.

Due to the sandy soils, there are no cycle paths within the heath.
