Living in Münster
Münster's core city with the inner city ring, the old town and the central-south and central-north-east areas only measures around 24 square kilometres. It is therefore a very small city in terms of area, but all the busier for it. In recent years, it has grown considerably, particularly outside the city centre ring road, and is increasingly merging with the surrounding districts and the Münsterland region.
However, living here is just as expensive as in Cologne, for example. You can find more information on the website of the city and the Münster Economic Development Agency. A property market report is also available to download free of charge. In order to meet the increasing demand for housing, the city has created large new housing estates in some districts, for example in the north-east of Rumphorst (Mitte district) and in the south-west of Mecklenbeck (West district). Neighbouring towns and municipalities not far from Münster offer even more affordable living space - Altenberge, Havixbeck, Senden and Telgte are popular examples. Some people even commute from Münster to the Ruhr region, which can be reached relatively quickly by train.
