Employers’ network discusses the future of human resources
Effective HR management requires new ideas – and the opportunity to exchange views with others facing similar challenges. This was precisely the focus of the meeting of the Onboarding@Münsterland employer network on 14 October at AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG in Münster. The approximately 75 participants gained insights into different approaches to HR management and discussed how HR practices can be further developed and how employee retention can be strengthened.
“Through the Onboarding@Münsterland employer network, we showcase regional companies as top employers for skilled and unskilled workers and also connect them with one another. Through this format, we enable participants to look beyond their own day-to-day business operations and facilitate a direct exchange of practical experiences from their own HR work,” says Monika Leiking, Head of the Onboarding@Münsterland Service at Münsterland e.V.
Following a brief opening session and a tour of the premises, the focus shifted to current issues in HR. Holger Hinz, Head of HR at AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG, demonstrated under the title ‘Rethinking HR: Less effort. Greater Impact. A Brighter Future”, how AGRAVIS is redesigning its HR processes around an end-to-end value stream. In his presentation, Hinz emphasised that “the future of HR emerges where good processes, actionable knowledge and AI interact in a practical way”.
Gerburgis Niehaus and Katharina Matzker from Sahle Baubetreuungsgesellschaft mbH provided a second key focus. They highlighted health as a strategic factor in employee retention and explained how health management can support staff, convey appreciation and strengthen their sense of connection to the company. Among other initiatives, they have developed ‘A Week for Better Health’ within their company, which they offer annually in partnership with a health insurance provider. During this week, all staff members can take part in hearing tests, skin screenings and other health initiatives, or cycle to blend a smoothie for their lunch break.
The Onboarding@Münsterland service at Münsterland e.V. keeps an eye on the pool of skilled talent at universities and, to this end, collaborates with Konrad Grunwald, amongst others. Grunwald, a student at the University of Münster, gave a brief presentation on his digital ‘freshers’ pack’ and digital job board, which enable students to discover living and working opportunities in the Münsterland region right from the start of their studies.
In the World Café session that followed, participants engaged in discussion with the speakers and explored the topics in greater depth based on their own experiences.
