Pupils from Münster want to optimise local public transport with their start-up idea "BusmApp".

Joint project Gründergeist #Youngstarts Münsterland awards prize for the best start-up idea from Münster

Knowing exactly where the bus is on its way to the bus stop and observing its route: That's what the pupils of the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Gymnasium in Münster want. With their start-up idea "BusmApp", an app in which users can see where the bus is, Julian Thiene, Jenny Thies and Katinka Bolwin won the ideas competition in Münster, which the joint project Gründergeist #Youngstarts Münsterland held this summer. The three of them beat a total of 50 pupils from Münster schools who developed and submitted their start-up ideas in small teams.

They already showed at the Start-up Week in June that there are many ideas slumbering in the heads of the young people. In three workshops, the 10th grade students learned how to develop, present and film their own start-up idea. The teams used this knowledge to enter the ideas competition with their start-up ideas. "Among other things, the jury assessed the degree of feasibility of the idea, the quality and comprehensibility of the video as well as creativity and degree of innovation," explains Frank Sibbing, head of the Gründergeist #Youngstarts Münsterland project at Münsterland e.V..

At the award ceremony last week at Freiherr-vom-Stein-Gymnasium Münster, Julian, Jenny and Katinka presented their start-up idea once again: "With the BusmApp, we want to optimise the use of public transport, reduce or avoid waiting times and ensure that no bus is missed anymore." The three can now develop their idea further in an intensive workshop with the support of Technologieförderung Münster. The winners also received a trip on the MS Günther, a #Youngstarts Sdjool and an exclusive start-up picnic box with great non-cash prizes from start-ups in Münsterland.

In addition to the winning team from Münster schools, two other winning teams will be awarded prizes as part of the Youngstarts project ideas competition. A winning team from the district of Warendorf and the best start-up idea from the external entries will be announced at the end of November.
