Active Journey Border Experience

Arrival at the booked hotel in the course of the morning, welcome and explanation of the travel documents. You will start your cycling day on the Südlohn-Oeding hut tour through the Münsterland park landscape (total length 37.5 km). Along the route you will see Oeding Castle, the Menke tower windmill from 1812 and the "Haus Lohn" manor house. For coffee you stop at Café Hüftgold in the TURMHAUS. On request we serve the Münsterland coffee table with cake, canapés and coffee as much as you like (bookable from 10 persons; surcharge € 14.50 p.p.).

The day ends with a welcome menu with regional delicacies at the booked hotel. Depending on your choice of hotel, you have the option of using the hotel's own bowling alley or the nearby jeux de boules alley.

Strengthened by a rich breakfast buffet, you cycle today through the varied landscape of the Dutch Achterhoek. Your first destination is the charming border town of Winterswijk, where you can take a leisurely stroll through the lake fish and market (Wednesday and Saturday).

The tour continues via typical Dutch pättkes to Lievelde. In the privately run open-air museum "Erve Kots" you will learn how people and animals lived in one room, why the groom carries his bride over the threshold and how a horse oil mill works. The "Loss Hus", the former estate and countless interesting everyday objects fascinate young and old here.

Reservations have already been made for you in the nationally renowned pancake restaurant . We serve pancakes of your choice, "Pilleweggen" and a "Kumme" coffee. A visit to the estate cheese dairy opposite is not only a treat for the palate. Delicious samples from nettle to sage cheese, as well as many curiosities in the lovingly designed rooms make this tour an experience. The eventful day ends with a cosy dinner at the hotel (half board included).

After a hearty breakfast and equipped with a packed lunch, you will lace up your hiking boots today. You will hike along the former customs officers' and smugglers' paths along the border stones that have marked the border since 1765 and thus one of the oldest border routes in Europe. The total length of the Kommiesenpatts is 17.9 km. Depending on your wishes and physical condition, four different circular hiking trails of 4.8 km - 12.8 km in length are designated.
