Cycling Tour | 360 Degrees Münsterland

Rheine - the largest city in northern Münsterland with a population of around 80,000. You can experience how green and close to nature the city has nevertheless remained by bike. The Bentlage recreation area offers a wide range of modern leisure and recreation facilities. You should take a deep breath when you cycle along the salt pans. The "Bentlage brine spring" is even defined as "natural healing water". High-quality salt is still extracted in Rheine today.

The neighbouring municipalities have converted the unused railway line between Coesfeld and Rheine into a cycle path: the RadBahn Münsterland. It leads through the typical Münsterland parkland with almost no inclines. Pay a visit to the natural district town of Steinfurt along the way!
The route then continues to the district and shopping town of Coesfeld, which impresses with its diverse art, culture and sports programme. Highlights include the "konzert theatre coesfeld" with its excellent acoustics, the Lette Glass Museum and the attractive town centre, which is perfect for a stroll. Anyone interested in history should definitely pay a visit to the Powder Tower, Walkenbrückentor, Lamberti Church and Jakobi Church.

The 100 Castles Route is characterised by meadows, pastures and hedgerows. The true treasures of the Münsterland lie right in the centre: Palaces and castles with imposing castle gardens and parks. The obligatory 360° Münsterland view from the Longinus Tower in Billerbeck is a must on this section of the route. In good weather, you can even catch a glimpse of the forest hill in Rheine in the distance.
The route continues to Münster - the most liveable city in the world! Enchantingly old, excitingly young. The fact that Münster, with its almost 300,000 citizens, is one of the "Historic Highlights of Germany" can be experienced on the Prinzipalmarkt: The gables of the merchants' houses form a magnificent silhouette, while exquisite shops invite you to stroll under their arcades. And just around the corner, the weekly market on the cathedral square is an absolute "must see".

Along the Ems cycle path, you will pass the Rieselfelder, a European bird sanctuary. On the jetty, you can marvel at the fantastic fauna and flora of the protected area. There are numerous opportunities to observe the diverse bird species that are native to this unique habitat.
