(4 days, 3 hours each)

Rays of light, cloud formations and vibrant colours take centre stage in this holiday course for children aged 6 to 10. Together with the artist Tina Blau, we’ll take a playful journey into the world of Impressionism and discover how nature, weather and light can be creatively captured. On an exciting journey through the exhibition, we’ll draw inspiration from radiant landscapes and the fascinating light installations by Rosa M Hessling.

In the museum studio, these summery impressions are then creatively transformed: the children create their own works of art and experiment with light, colour and various painting techniques. The result is a collection of highly personal masterpieces full of imagination and expressiveness.

*CANCELLED!* Important notice: Unfortunately, the course cannot go ahead. Alternatively, our Summer Holiday Course I starts on the same day – there are still places available!

Tina Blau was a strong personality who courageously went her own way. But which people fascinate us today? In this creative holiday course, for children aged 10 and over, it’s all about your personal role model or idol.

Together, we’ll create a personalised booklet in which you can creatively capture why this person inspires you. Whether they’re a musician, sportsperson, actor, activist or someone from your own circle – there are no limits to your imagination.

Using various artistic techniques and materials, you’ll create a very personal art project step by step. You’re welcome to bring along photos or other information and materials that you’d like to use.

All other materials will be provided.

Exhibition: ‘Outdoors. Tina Blau – An Impressionist from Vienna’

She masterfully captures the light as it breaks through the clouds. The river’s surface ripples gently, whilst in the background smoke rises from chimneys into the sky. Tina Blau (1845–1916) is rightly regarded in Austria as one of the most significant landscape painters of her time.

She exhibited her works at world exhibitions, was represented at international exhibitions and was honoured with awards. Her travels across Europe provided her with a wealth of new impressions and transformed her colour palette. The professionalisation of art education for women was particularly close to her heart: she taught in Munich and Vienna.

The Kunstmuseum Ahlen, in collaboration with the Museum Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern, is presenting the first museum exhibition of Tina Blau’s work in Germany. This is an opportunity to discover an artist who forged an extraordinary path in her time and who, in a field that was extremely difficult for women, knew how to make her mark with expertise and self-confidence.

We are combining our journey back to the 19th century with an artistic intervention by Rosa M Hessling, whose light installations promise intense visual experiences. The artist draws inspiration from the Moselle landscape, from the reflections and glints on the water’s surface. She shares this fascination with nature and light phenomena with her colleague from Vienna. In conjunction with the Impressionist paintings of Tina Blau, a moving beauty unfolds – and once again reveals the wealth of experiences that art has to offer.

In cooperation with the Museum Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern.
