Ahlen
The city of Ahlen, located directly on the Werse cycle path, is a friendly and hospitable city, interestingly situated between the Ruhr area and Münsterland. Embedded in the Westphalian park landscape, Ahlen is a tourist destination where you can really relax. With the Westphalia Colliery, Ahlen's industrial past meets the eventful present.
Between parkland and industrial culture
When you explore the charming landscape by bike, the listed Westfalen Coll iery awaits you amidst a lot of greenery. Where coal was mined in the past, the wage hall, boiler house and engine shed now offer space for events, culture, a climbing hall and offices. An impressive sight and a great piece of history that you should not miss.
Ahlen's old town is both a historical centre and a lively centre. St. Bartholomew's Church and the Old Town Hall on the market square are just some of the important buildings from seven centuries. Modern buildings and contemporary architecture complement the townscape. Unique museum offerings and events such as the town festival or the Pöttkes and Töttken markets fill the town centre with life. The old town of Ahlen with its attractive pedestrian zone, the numerous restaurants and pubs and the accommodation on offer leave nothing to be desired.
