Nestling in the south-eastern Münsterland park landscape, visitors can expect an extremely varied flat landscape characterised by fields, meadows, pastures, small woods, hedgerows and rivers and streams, which offers an almost unlimited repertoire of leisure activities - whether on land (shorter and longer bicycle tours, walks, extensive hikes, Nordic walking tours on three trails) or on water (including canoeing on the Lippe). Walibo, Bad Waldliesborn's affectionate nickname, has been a state-recognised thermal brine spa since 1974 and a district of Lippstadt since 1975 - often referred to as the "Venice of Westphalia" because of its wealth of water and bridges.
Bad Waldliesborn owes its state recognition as a spa to the natural healing properties of the soil in the form of two thermal brine springs, which are considered the second most powerful brine springs in Germany and bubble up from a depth of 900 metres at around 38 degrees Celsius.
The two brine springs feed the thermal brine bath, which is one of the largest natural brine baths in North Rhine-Westphalia with a water surface area of 1250 m², divided into 3 indoor and 2 outdoor pools. Just a few hours spent in the 28 - 32 degree Celsius thermal brine - also known as "the gold of Bad Waldliesborn" - whether in the relaxation pool with bubble loungers, massage jets, jet stream canal or neck showers or in the 25-metre-long swimming pool - even outdoors! - can work small miracles: Get away from everyday life, relax and relieve stress, prophylactically counteract the "widespread disease of back pain" and strengthen your health.
The extensive 20-hectare spa park is characterised above all by its old and varied tree population, a multitude of unique bronze sculptures as well as a concert shell with a nearby inviting milk bar ("the small and special spa park café"). Together with the natural treasures of the Münsterland park landscape and the Sauerland, the thermal brine baths, the spa park with a climbing forest with four different courses, a miniature golf course opposite the milk bar and an extensive programme of events make Bad Waldliesborn a "specialist for health-oriented holidays".
If you stay with a"pampering host", you have free admission to the thermal brine pool - as often and as long as you like. In addition, you save on the use of the new, spacious sauna area in the thermal brine baths - and of course the spa fee is already included in the price of the overnight stay.
