Acquired in spring 2025 and now restored, the painting explores numerous aspects of the art of painting, drawing clear parallels with the Dutch masters of the 17th century. The exhibition focuses on the new acquisition and is complemented by a selection of works from the collection.

In her first institutional exhibition in her hometown of Borken, the Berlin-based young artist Nina Bruchhaus (1990), who studied in Hamburg, Berlin and Tokyo, engages in a dialogue with the work of Julia Schily-Koppers. Bruchhaus describes her artistic process as an exploratory endeavour. Her works, which lie somewhere between abstraction and figuration, resonate with contemporary society, themes relating to her heritage and the museum’s collection.

The Stadtmusik initiative provides the city centre with live music. Street musicians are guests on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings and put on their hats. All styles are represented, there is something for everyone.
