Under the title "SEARCHING PERFECT SHAPES", the two artists Beate Gärtner and Michelle Adolfs invite you to a special exhibition from 2.45 p.m. that opens up new aesthetic spaces by means of virtual reality and augmented reality. Throughout the Klosterpark, 3D sculptures can be experienced digitally, entering into a new relationship with architectural features and the natural space. Using a smartphone or tablet, the artworks can be brought onto the screen, superimposed on the live camera image. The result is a game with visual axes and concrete forms that open up an expanded world in motion. The artists sound out digital in-between worlds and show a creative rethinking of sculpture - weightless and interactive.

The project "MyVR_Planet.DA" - part of this year's KunstKommunikation project scholarship - finds its first work conclusion here. The basic principle is a reduction with an abstract language of forms; they are small interventions in our field of vision - everyone controls their own experience. The artists have worked with the works in the tradition of Heinrich Neuy's Bauhaus. In autumn, another exhibition will follow at the Heinrich Neuy Bauhaus Museum in Borghorst, where the digital objects can be experienced haptically with the help of 3D printing.

Experience the art of tomorrow today: In 2024, the district of Steinfurt will continue to support up to four participatory and site-specific art projects that invite people to "join in and think" for a year as part of the KunstKommunikation project scholarship at the DA, Kunsthaus Kloster Gravenhorst. The "Outlook!" exhibition brings together those project designs that were selected for final judging in the multi-stage selection process. For better illustration, the visually prepared exposés will be supplemented by numerous objects and models.

The exhibition will open on 14 October at 6 pm. At the same time, the projects selected for implementation in the coming year will be publicly announced. There is already the opportunity to attend the opening of the 36th joint exhibition "Art in the Region" in the West Wing at 5 pm.

Finnishspruce sauna
The Finns live their forest culture. Almost every family owns a cabin near the forest, and each of these cabins is guaranteed to have a sauna. That's why the Münsterland Festival can't do without one. On the outdoor grounds of the DA, Kunsthaus Kloster Gravenhorst, artist Jan Philip Scheibe will set up a Finnish sauna in autumn 2023 as part of the KunstKommunikation project scholarship.
In his project "FICHTEN [WÄLDER]", Scheibe establishes a special link to the region: the wood comes from dead spruce trunks from the surrounding area. Because our forest home is changing rapidly. What does that do to us, to our connection to the landscape, our forest culture and our longing for the forest?
Participation is encouraged in the sauna construction and sauna sessions. The ceremonial opening, the first heating up and the first sauna session will take place just in time for the festival. The emerging sauna sculpture connects the forest culture with the sauna culture through löyly, sauna beers and conversations.

The sauna heater was provided by the NARVI company. Following the sauna inauguration, the Kari Ikonen Trio will perform on the stage of the DA, Kunsthaus Kloster Gravenhorst (paid ticket required).

Trio full of energy and ingenuity
The Finnish Kari Ikonen Trio has existed since 2012 and has released three albums in the meantime: "Bright", "Beauteous Tales and Offbeat Stories" and "Wind, Frost & Radiation". Since then, the trio has been touring worldwide and impresses with its lightness, stage presence and virtuosity. Their music is fresh and subtle, captivating with its beauty of sound, enormous energy and inventiveness - it is a pleasure to listen to this extraordinary trio. For the Münsterland Festival, the Finns Kari Ikonen (piano), Olli Rantala (bass) and Markku Ounaskari (drums) will come to DA, Kunsthaus Kloster Gravenhorst.
In addition to the trio, pianist and composer Kari Ikonen is also on the road as a solo artist and with several other bands and has won several international prizes for his compositions, including the Yrjö Prize as Finnish Jazz Musician of the Year in 2013.

"Winter Light" is a series of unique exhibitions of contemporary light art. Since 2006, works by internationally renowned light artists can be experienced in the interior and exterior spaces of the former Cistercian monastery. The site-specific interventions by means of light elements, projections or expansive installations change the historical monastery architecture in very different ways.

This winter season, the artist Jeongmoon Choi, who lives and works in Berlin and Seoul, will be performing in the special exhibition spaces of the DA, Kunsthaus. The architectural characteristics become the starting point for complex, walk-through installations made of expansively stretched threads that fluoresce in the black light. Like three-dimensional drawings that can be walked through, Jeongmoon Choi creates fragile spatial constructions that, in connection with the existing architecture and in the constant change of perspective of moving through them, constantly generate new visual worlds, new realities.
