"Fettmarkt wet met maakt" – which in Low German means “Join in the Fettmarkt” – aptly describes the popular traditional festival in Metelen.

In 2026, too, the historic town centre will once again be transformed into a lively shopping and festival area with over 100 stalls and attractions. 

The range on offer is as varied as it is high-quality, and most items are made in-house. It ranges from jams and spices to homemade decorative items made from wood and other natural materials. Anyone looking for a special gift for birthdays, Christmas or just because is sure to find something along the “Lange Meile” or in the community centre.

The Fettmarkt’s special atmosphere – with its tranquil market bustle, craftsmanship, traditional food and children’s attractions – makes this autumn market an insider’s tip for the whole family.

As part of the Fettmarkt, a flea market selling good-quality second-hand goods will take place on Sunday 18 October 26 along the church square.

The Fettmarkt is a traditional autumn market held through the centre of Metelen, featuring over 100 stalls and attractions. On Sunday, another highlight is the small flea market selling second-hand goods around the church square.
