Schöppingen attracts visitors to the region as an artists' village, cultural site and "observation tower". The Münsterland around Schöppingen is rural, and with the 158-metre Schöppinger Berg there is even a real elevation worth mentioning. From there you can see over a large part of the Münsterland.
The artists' village of Schöppingen has become famous far beyond the town's borders. Young artists show their creative works of art here, which are also reflected in the townscape in special projects. The spring on the Schöppinger Berg is also the basis for the Sasse grain distillery. Visitors can learn about the secrets of the famous "Lagerkorn" during a tour.
Of course, cycling is also one of the most popular activities in Schöppingen. Well-maintained cycle paths lead to the old town of Steinfurt, which is well worth seeing, or along the Vechte to Metelen and on along the Vechte valley route to the Netherlands. Nearby, the pilgrimage site of Eggerode, whose picturesque ambience attracts not only believers, is a real insider's tip.
