Fine distillery Sasse

In the midst of the idyllic parkland of the Münsterland region, the Sasse distillery in Schöppingen produces fine brandies, liqueurs and grain specialities with a special character. What makes Sasse so special? A passion for craftsmanship, high quality and a history that dates back to 1707. While many other distilleries had to close due to a massive decline in sales, owner Rüdiger Sasse reinvented the traditional company in 1987 - with a spirit of innovation and a deep connection to the region.

A visit to the distillery is more than just a look behind the scenes: It is an invitation to discover the flavours of the Münsterland with all your senses. Here you will learn how regional ingredients and traditional production methods are used to create real moments of pleasure. Whether browsing in the farm shop, at a tasting or on a distillery course - the Sasse distillery offers an experience that combines tradition and modernity.

In the in-house farm shop, you will find the full range of products, from fine brandies and creamy liqueurs to high-quality gift ideas. The products bear the Münsterland seal - a sign of genuine quality from the region. It guarantees that the products are made with ingredients from the Münsterland and processed locally.

Sasse is of course best known for its fine lager, which matures for years in oak barrels. The distillery has a barrique storage capacity of around 250,000 litres.

In 2025, Sasse was the only grain distillery in Germany to be recognised as a "World-Class Distillery" and is one of the 18 best distilleries in the world.

Create your own natural liqueurs

Discover the art of making liqueurs in the midst of nature. Together with the Westmünsterland Nature and Landscape Foundation, you will explore the Zwillbrocker Venn - home to the northernmost flamingo colony in Europe. On this guided tour, you will collect selected local botanicals, which will later form the basis for your very own personalised herbal liqueur.

In the distillery, master distillers Hendrik and Joscha will introduce you to the world of distillation. You will learn how to create a unique liqueur from natural ingredients - and develop your own recipe. At the end, you will take home a 500 ml bottle of your own distilled herbal liqueur. A rustic breakfast in the morning at the coach house in the Zwillbrocker Venn and a lunch together before the return journey to Schöppingen round off the culinary experience.

Cycle routes at the Sasse distillery

You can combine your visit to Sasse with a relaxing cycle tour through the Münsterland region, as numerous routes pass through here. Not only can you charge your e-bike here, but you can also top up your water bottle free of charge. If you've had a good browse in the farm shop but don't have enough space in your bike bag, you can have the products sent to your home conveniently and free of charge.
